As of April 14, LinkedIn will be removing the Products and Services tab on all its company pages.
“At LinkedIn, we aim to provide a simple and efficient experience for our members,” explains LinkedIn on its Help Center page. “To do this, we’re continuously evaluating how our current products and features are used, and seeking new ways to focus our resources on building the best products. This sometimes results in the retirement of certain features.”
For many businesses, one of the best features of the Products and Services tab was the ability for followers to leave Recommendations. Unfortunately, those are going away, as well. LinkedIn says that page administrators can preserve those recommendations by copying and pasting them into a separate document.
It appears that there is no plan to provide a means to display them after April 14.
Taking the place of the Products and Services tab will be the Showcase Page. “Showcase Pages allow you to extend your Company Page presence by creating a dedicated page for prominent products and services.” If your business has more than one product or service line, just as Microsoft does with Windows and X-Box, then you can build a showcase page for each.
LinkedIn believes a Showcase Page will be a better vehicle for building long term relationships with users who want to follow specific products, services or brands.
