Social Media Marketing World Kicks Off

Over 2500 social marketers are gathering in San Diego this week at Social Media Marketing World 2015.  This annual event is becoming something of a “must-do” for social marketers, and a late-March tradition.  The conference is in its third year and attendance continues to grow.  It is the largest social media marketing conference of its kind.

The conference is “designed to inspire and empower” social marketers, bloggers and content marketing professionals from around the world.  Sponsored by Social Media Examiner, this industry get together is packed with information, tips, tactics and strategies.

There are over 100 sessions lead by respected, industry leaders such as Mari Smith, Chris Brogen, Guy Kawasaki, Ted Rubin, Jay Baer and Andrea Vahl, just to name a few.  The sessions cover topics such as LinkedIn practices to grow your influence, how brands stand out on Pinterest, or how to become a ROI-driven marketer.

Attendees can sit in on any session they choose, or they can follow one of the seven tracks: Social Tactics, Social Strategy, Content Marketing, Measurement, Corporate Social, Small Biz Social or Social Future.

There are also networking opportunities—lots of them!  The opening night kick-off party was held on the retired aircraft carrier U.S.S. Midway, where marketers played a game that inspired them to mingle with each other, while having the availability to talk with the best in the business.  Early-risers can get to know each other during 6:00am Networking Walks.  There are also “Table Talk” and “Interest Area Meet Ups” where attendees can gather for lunch and discuss specific topics.  The organizers have been very effective making this social media conference an in-person, “social” event for its attendees.
