Social Media Marketing World Kicks Off
The 4th Annual Social Media Marketing World is happening this week in beautiful San Diego, California. The three-day event draws online marketers and social media managers from around the world. This year, some 3000 attendees are expected.
On this week’s episode of Online Marketing Guys Jennifer Ballard gives us a preview. She is the Marketing Manager for Social Media Examiner, the event sponsor.
Jennifer tells co-hosts Bob Turner and Jason Goff about the growth of this conference. The attendance has increased steadily every year since it first started in 2013. At that time, 1200 people attended the event held at San Diego’s largest hotel, the Hyatt Regency. But the increase in attendance necessitated a larger venue. So in 2016, the event moved to the San Diego Convention Center. This is the same location that hosts the massive Comic Con convention.
Social Media Marketing World offers 86 educational sessions and 16 workshops. The topics cover more than just social media, as well. They address other online marketing areas such as blogging, podcasting, video, measuring and analytics.
The event started Sunday afternoon with eight workshops that covered topics such as Writing Copy that Sells, Using Visual Content and How to Create Videos on Your Mobile Device. The official kick-off, though, was a Sunday night party held on the U.S.S. Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that now serves as a museum. This location offers attendees a unique opportunity to network with others from around the world.
